When will Americans learn?

How many times does history have to repeat itself?

A VT survivor, shot in the arm.

Survivors will have their own demons to face.

Americans will never learn. Just look at the people we continue to elect to represent our country!?

A hill-jack, that's who.

I was reading earlier about shortbus but I didn't leave a comment because I was busy eating some imported (Belgian) white chocolate.

It was good.

*LOL* I agree with the comment above... a big pack of fruitcakes seem to be voting and running the place. Its just going to get worse for them. Sadly, nearly half the country ISNT voting for people like Bush and they have to suffer for it.

Besides... Guns dont kill people.

It's much harder to stab 33 people to death or bludgeon them with a baseball bat.

Yes, people kill people, but, guns make it easier and faster.

I was being sarcastic ;) If the guy didnt have a bloody gun it wouldnt have happened...

How many times has it happened there, and then look at Canada and Australia where guns are hard to come by, and voila!! Less death. Its like magic... :D

I dunno. I'm afraid it's already too late even if the NRA and the Republican Party ceased to exist tomorrow. Our country is awash in guns, and I'm afraid they'd be as easy to get as pot even if they were illegal everywhere. Plus we have a culture that worships violence and kids growing up in suburban isolation without any sense of community or connectedness or empathy for fellow human beings. It seems like we have a sickness in the heart to me, sometimes, as much as I love this place, and I do love it.

I am still trying to find out the identities of all the dead and wounded since I know a number of kids at Va Tech and virtually all of them were engineering students. From what I understand, several professors tried to get the guy into counseling but he refused the help. Sad. Very sad. A whole generation of students will live with this tragedy at their school for the rest of their lives.

OMG, David isn't at VT is he? I'm not that familiar with the surrounding states/counties around DC.

No, thank God he is not there. Both David and Karen go to school in DC. Virginia Tech is 150 km or so southwest of DC/Fairfax. It is a beautiful school in a beautiful setting - something like 26,000 resident students there. The buidings are stately and most are limestone blocks. The Uni owns a limestone quarry. Va Tech is mostly known as a top notch engineering school with a powerhouse football (American football) team. It is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the setting is spectacular, especially in the fall when the leaves all turn color.

Those parents, siblings, relatives &'s unimaginable.

News reports here tell us that although classes are cancelled stiudents are not going home but electing to stay and be together.

Every time I see Bush on TV I grit my teeth.

I understand. Bush is one the reasons I take Prilosec. It is hard to be diplomatic with that cretin in charge of the country.

Why do you think I moved to Oz? Some bitch at my office in the US walked in with a pistol drawn and ready to fire. Fuckin' nutjobs, the lot of them. Oh, and let's not forget Bush, he's a big reason I moved as well.
